posted 2012 Feb by Meg Pachmayer

Thanks for all of you who visited our table at Heikinpäivä! I hope you enjoyed seeing people and tasting the foods. My absolute favorite was the Karjalanpiirakka, Karelian pies. And I could not pass the table with Finnish candies without buying any...

Hyvää päivänjatkoa! Have a good rest of the day!

Kesäterveiset Suomesta!

posted 2011 Jul by Meg Pachmayer

Summer greetings from Finland!

It might be hard to imagine but the weather in Finland was actually kuuma, hot. Without the humidity that is. It is so kuuma in the UP too, with the humidity! We are grateful Lake Superior stays cool in the summer too.

Our magnets are being printed as I write this and should be in our hands soon. It took a bit longer than we expected, so we apologize for that. Viili will be our new addition to the magnet collection. Not sure what viili is? That tasty stringy stuff with all the good bacteria that keeps your system in balance :=) Herkullista! Delicious!

If you want to see us face to face, we invite you to visit Late July Artist Market where we will have a table.

Milloin? Time, Saturday, July 30th · 10:00am - 5:00pm

Missä? Location, Algomah Acres Honey House
                            611 Plank Rd.
                            Greenland, MI

For more information about the event, please email: algomahacres@live.com

Kiitos ja nähdään pian!

Thanks and see you soon!

It made me smile.

I hope you are enjoying the summer and all the beautiful flowers. Tulppaani, pioni and lemmikki are some of the flowers growing in my garden. You might have guessed the first two ones (tulip and peony) but perhaps not the third one? is is forget-me-not.

Meg and I are getting more magnets soon...

Kevät tulee... spring is coming...

posted 2011 Mar by Meg Pachmayer

 Hei!

Spring is coming little by little... I can see tulips in my back yard already!

Between being sick several times this past winter, traveling spouses and kitchen renovation and so on we thought that we will come up with a new magnet... this time it would be VIILI. Every single Finnish-American we talk to say they love viili and would like to know how to make it, since no everyone has a starter. We assure you, it will be as simple and as delicious as the previous recipes!

Let us know if YOU like the idea!

Best regards,

parhain terveisin,

Anna & Meg

Heikinpäivä 2011: See you there?

posted 2011 Jan by Meg Pachmayer

 Hi Finnsight friends,

We have been busy preparing for Hancock's 2011 Heikinpäivä Tori, which will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 (Hancock is located in Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula). We will be launching four new postcards: Birthday, Thank You, Mother's Day and of course Valentine's Day. We will post them shortly to our website, but visit us at the Tori to see them in person.

Our table will be located in the Methodist Church Tori (the Tori is also in the Finnish American Heritage Center). So stop on by after the parade and see us! Did I mention that we have been baking too?

We are also excited because we launched Finnsight exactly one year ago at the 2010 Heikinpäivä and we are so thankful to continue our business into year two.  We still have a few more wrinkles to iron out, but we continue to grow and appreciate all of the support we have received.

For more information on the Heikinpäivä celebrations and schedule check out the following site: http://www.pasty.com/heikki/sched.html

Hope to see you soon!

Hei hei,

Hyvää uutta vuotta 2011!

posted 2011 Jan by Meg Pachmayer

 Happy New Year 2011!

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We enjoyed ours with glögi and prune tarts and kinkku (ham) and lanttulaatikko (rutabaga casserole) and rosolli (beet salad) among other things... Now we need to get rid of those calories somehow...

Finnsight laboratory did not rest during the last day of 2010 but designed four new cool postcards to add to our collection: "Kiitos", "Hyvää äitienpäivää", "Hyvää syntymäpäivää" and "Hyvää ystävänpäivää". The designs were sent to the printer and we hope to get them in a few weeks. So keep checking our website!

Once again, hyvää uutta vuotta!

Anna & Meg
